EC51 in Ho Chi Minh city is not only the FIRST outside modular data center but also the FIRST data center in Vietnam that will use solar energy. EC51 will be connected to 6 telecommunications service providers with a dedicated capacity of 1MW in addition to 250kW of solar and batteries.
The site’s unique location within a university campus added complexity, requiring adherence to strict university regulations for construction.
Compounded by the necessity to handle all tasks locally, this situation demanded meticulous attention to quality standards.
The initial site visit unveiled a surprising scene of overgrown weeds and a heightened risk of landslides, significantly amplifying civil work requirements, especially in land leveling and embankment tasks.
Despite these challenges, the collaboration between USDC Technology and Edge Centres aimed to overcome obstacles and deliver a successful project.
Acknowledging the challenges, USDC Technology promptly allocated its complete resources to initiate project implementation immediately upon signing the contract with Edge Centres on September 29, 2022.
A collaborative effort ensued as we closely collaborated with Edge Centres to delineate project timelines, scope of work, and phases. The comprehensive project was dynamically segmented into various packages, including Civil & Fencing, Fiber & Networking, MEP Installation, Generators, among others, allowing for independent execution of each package. This strategic approach facilitated a streamlined and efficient project workflow, ensuring that different aspects could progress concurrently.
Grateful for the excellent collaboration from Edge Centres, VNU, and our dedicated teams, we successfully completed the project, meet both schedule and quality requirements.
On December 9, 2022, Edge Centres proudly unveiled its inaugural location in Vietnam. EC51, situated in Ho Chi Minh City, marks the establishment of Edge Centres’ initial point of presence within Vietnam’s vibrant and swiftly growing digital economy.
