Cloud computing technology has now changing the rules of games. Service providers who manage and control cloud computing are becoming more and more popular, and technology leaders realize that their organizations have to catch the growing demands and constantly optimize cloud computing strategies.
More and more organizations are adopting cloud computing services, but the outbreak of the new crown epidemic forces organizations to accelerate innovation, which means organizations can evaluate usage more quickly, but because this is a digital transformation that evolved from urgent needs, rather than careful observe and experience, so now is the time to improve the efficiency of cloud computing.
There are 10 major areas, including the biggest obstacle to effective cloud security, the organization’s budget. In the next 12 months, 41% of IT decision-makers said they plan to increase their security budget.
1. IT professionals believe that their cloud service is mature
“Cloud computing maturity” refers to the organization’s level of progress in its cloud computing technology. Surprisingly, 67% of IT decision-makers and IT business department employees believe that their cloud computing strategy is mature, but when checking their strategic priorities and plans, its maturity is worse than they thought.
2. Cloud computing is an evolving maturity of continuing journey
3. Organization to agree on cloud governance is still a challenge
Organizations encounter obstacles in cloud governance. IT decision-makers believe that the three major initiatives to improve cloud governance in the next 12 months are to establish an internal central organization to define cloud governance standards and best practices and improve employee training on cloud computing.
4. IT decision-makers understand the shadow of imminent threat
Five driving factors for IT decision-maker to adopt shadow threat: lack of understanding of the security risks, lack of centralized guidance on the use of technology in the workplace, disappointment in the authorization process, lack of training to use authorized tools, and lack of budget for purchasing new tools.
5. IT employees believe that cloud deployment is not as malleable as IT decision-makers think
The three main reasons for the disruption in the remote work transition process – the IT department is overwhelmed by support requests, non-IT employees do not understand how to use cloud-based tools, and the organization’s cloud infrastructure lacks bandwidth and cannot provide access to all users.
6. IT decision-makers are not in rush to make major changes to their current cloud infrastructure
Even under time constraints, a careful evaluation will eventually become more efficient. 63% of IT decision-makers who use public cloud or hybrid cloud deployment said that they are “very satisfied” with their cloud computing provider, but 58% of IT business employees said they are only “somewhat satisfied”.
7. Education and training are the best ways to improve cloud computing security
IT decision-makers stated that their top priority in improving cloud computing security, educate employees about security risks, and improved training on how to use authorized tools.
8. The modernization of cloud computing must be prioritized
Decision-makers said that due to the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, organizations canceled or postponed the first three cloud computing-related plans: migrating internal IT infrastructure to cloud platforms, changing the cloud computing environment, and adjusting IT operations to adapt to cloud computing best practices.
9. Employees in the IT department believe that efficiency needs to be improved
It’s found that the three most “painful” results of cloud deployment inefficiencies are lack of automation, difficult problems or software updates, and fewer innovation opportunities.
10. Trends to replace outdated cloud computing infrastructure
IT employees believe that the four most “painful” process barriers that hinder effective cloud deployment are outdated IT infrastructure, slow deployment and testing processes, bureaucracy or red tape, and the lack of communication between IT and other departments.
The most important for organizations today is to maintain the flexibility of working remotely. IT departments are under tremendous pressure, they have to ensure that employees who work remotely can access the organization’s data online, their personal devices are safe, and remain vigilant at all times. With the increase in the number of Coronavirus cases & resulting deaths, cloud adoption in organizations has increased exponentially.
